After missing our January meeting because of the ice and snow, this was our first chance to get together in 2010. After a brief AGM, we were entertained by Dr Trevor Piearce on the very down to earth topic of earthworms. His talk was actually entitled, Come to Terms with Worms, so we learnt all sorts of interesting facts on worms in general, both the good and the bad. Did you know that there about 25 different species of earthworm in the UK? Those of you that were unable to attend missed a treat, as we finished up with earthworm pate, full of protein and garlic, and not at all what you expect. Yummy!!

Our next and last winter meeting at The Church of the Ascension Torrisholme, Friday 12th March is on the Dragonflies of Lancashire, a lecture with slides by Graham Jones. Very much a summery topic
