Promenade Sea Defences

by John Holding

Here we see a shot of one of the two new fishtail groynes which have been put in as part of the Sandylands to Heysham promenade sea defences. The second one in front of the new Grosvenor flats, rivals the stone jetty in that it enables you to get well out into the bay. The Sunny Slopes one here is proving an excellent high tide roost for waders like the one to the north of the Stone Jetty.

You can't get on the prom whilst the work is still being finished, though many people do so at the week end. This view is from above the Slopes accessed from the north end of Twemlow Parade."
